Meeting MINUTES, August 9, 2011

6:00pm in Room J110

Attendance: Coach and Nancy Bless, Theresa Alexander-Pres, Mitzi Griffith-VP, Lisa Helm-Sec, and approximately 12 parents.

**Live In Camp Week: Camp week went really well! There were a lot of food donations and Theresa encouraged everyone to patronize those businesses that donated for camp week. When you visit those businesses, thank them for their support of Avon Football. It was noted that the Tuesday prep before Live In Camp helped tremendously. A big thank you to all the many volunteers that helped!!

**Away Game Meals: Meals for the players consist of sub, chips, cookie, fruit, and Gatorade. Mrs. Limeberry explained how the process worked last year. The Away Game Leads should be contacting their volunteers to get everything ready.  Away Game Leads: Varsity – Jenny Limeberry and Sondra Skinner, JV – Kim Bradley and Christina Brown, and Freshman – Donna Reddick. The food is purchased by the volunteers and then reimbursed by the QB Club. When planning and shopping for meals, remember that you will feed the players, coaches, and bus drivers.  Players will be fed after the game and it is helpful to have everything ready to hand to them on the way to the bus.

**Thursday Night dinners: The 1st Thursday night meal for Varsity/JV is Thursday, 8/18/11 with a “Pasta Night” theme. Team leads need to contact their volunteers for donations. Each team will be responsible for bringing certain things each week and this will rotate among teams. For 8/18/11 the teams will be responsible for the following: Gold team-Pasta, Black team-Salad/Bread, White team-Dessert.  Serving time will be 5:30pm.

**Yard Signs/Decals: There were 40 yard signs sold and approximately 100 decals sold. The decals earn a profit of $1.50/each. The yard signs were sold at cost.

**Spirit Wear: The first window for onlineordering of spirit wear through Lids was completed 7/27/11 and those orders generated approximately $370 in profit for the QB club. There will also be spirit wear available at all home games on both Friday nights and Monday nights. This spirit wear has started coming in and will be ready to sell for the first home game on 8/26/11. The orders for the parent jerseys were submitted to Lids and we should have those jerseys back before Labor Day. The parent jerseys were sold at cost with no profit. Theresa contacted BK Sports of Avon for embroidered stadium seats and they have one available for $30 with embroidered name. Theresa will get sample from BK Sports.

**Sports Booster Rep: Theresa Alexander has volunteered to be the rep for the QB club. A big THANKS to Theresa for taking this on as well as your other responsibilities!

**Senior Banners: Pictures were taken Monday night. Each senior will have a 3’ x 5 ½’ banner that will be displayed at home games. Jeanene Williams is in charge of stadium set-up, first home game is 8/26/11.

**Home game photographer: Karen Sanburn is willing to be the official photographer for home games only. Theresa will check with Mr. Ludlow about the possibility of having a student on the yearbook staff photograph the away games. A parent in attendance knows of a photographer that might be interested in working with the football team and will contact him as well.

**Tailgating: There will be tailgating at both home and away games. All families are encouraged to participate. The QB Club will provide the meat and grills – each family will bring their own drinks, chairs, and a dish to share. The tailgating location will be in the lot behind the home bleachers.

**A Profit & Loss statement for April 1 through August 9, 2011 was distributed and reflected a Net Income of $8,917.65.
**Invoices for spirit wear are just now coming in and will need to be paid.

Coach Bless thanked everyone for their help with the golf outing, live in camp, youth camp, etc. He expressed his appreciation for all the volunteers that contribute to Avon Football. Just as he wants his players to become one family, he hopes that his football parents can get to know each other and become a family as well through participating in tailgating, Thursday night meals, as well as cheering on the players on game nights!

Misc:

The team is still in need of cups!! Medium-small cups work best.  We are looking for a restaurant or store willing to supply the team with cups for the 2011 season.  If you know of a business that can donate, please let the Club or Coach Bless know as soon as possible.
